HHH touches the lives of one out of every four people experiencing homelessness in Harris County each year. They play an integral role in our community’s response to providing medical and dental care, mental health and addiction services and wrap around stabilization support for those who are homeless. All care is provided at no cost to patients, all of whom are experiencing homelessness. Last year, 92% of those served had no form of health insurance; reimbursements from Medicaid/Medicare represent 1% of the annual budget. It is truly community support that enables HHH to fulfill this important work.
For the last 19 years, HHH has been on the front-lines working with and for those they serve using innovative approaches to address complex and intertwining health and social needs. From their humble beginnings as a two-exam room clinic in the corner of a crowded day shelter, they have emerged as Houston’s premier provider of homeless health and wellness services, combating homelessness by treating the root cause and the most pressing and costly consequence of being unhoused: poor health.
