Medical Outreach
We can’t always expect people who are homeless and ill to come to our clinics. They might not be aware of our services, they might not have ready access to transportation, or they might not be physically able to get to our locations.
To find the people most in need of medical attention, we go to the abandoned buildings, the freeway underpass encampments, and the soup kitchens where homeless people gather.
We provide this ‘street medicine’ regularly, Tuesday through Thursday, at The Way Station, an outreach ministry/breakfast program located in the courtyard of Palmer Memorial Episcopal Church. And, on an as needed basis, we join the Mobile Outreach Program at SEARCH to help chronically homeless people who live on the streets.
